oeradio.at is more than a website – it’s a live dashboard for everyone who’s into radio. Whether you’re a licensed radio amateur, CB radio operator, or PMR user – right on the homepage you can see at a glance what’s happening in the radio world: propagation conditions including the 11m band, DX spots, satellite passes, SOTA and POTA activations, latest news, and local radio nets. All automatic, all in real time.

Here’s an overview of all the features waiting for you on oeradio.at.

Dark/Light Mode

In the top right corner you’ll find the theme switcher – choose between Dark Mode, Light Mode, and Auto (follows your system setting). Your choice persists across sessions without cookies – purely via localStorage.

UTC Clock & Propagation Strip

At the very top of the page runs the Propagation Strip – a compact bar with the most important solar and propagation data:

  • UTC Clock – always visible, accurate to the second
  • SFI (Solar Flux Index), SN (Sunspot Number), A-Index, K-Index
  • Band conditions for all shortwave bands (80m to 10m) – colour-coded from red (poor) to green (good)
  • 11m band (CB) – propagation conditions for the CB radio band are also displayed. When it shows green, it’s worth checking channel 9 or the DX channels!
  • Data source: HamQSL.com Solar XML, automatically cached

For CB radio operators, the Propagation Strip is worth its weight in gold: at a glance you can see whether skip conditions are possible on 11m – without having to scan the airwaves yourself.

HAM NEWS Ticker

The red HAM NEWS ticker shows current news from the radio world as a scrolling marquee. The stories come from multiple RSS feeds:

  • Amateur Radio Daily – daily digest
  • ARRL – American Radio Relay League
  • DX-World – DXpeditions and news
  • HAMSPIRIT – German-language radio news
  • Deutschland-Rundspruch – DARC news
  • AMSAT-UK – satellite radio news

Clicking a headline opens the original article. The sources are freely configurable in the admin – additional RSS feeds can be added at any time.

DX Cluster Spots

The yellow DX SPOTS ticker shows the latest 15 DX cluster spots from HamQTH in real time. For each spot you see:

  • Spotter callsign → DX callsign
  • Frequency
  • Spotter’s comment
  • Age of the spot (e.g. “3 min ago”)

Clicking a spot takes you directly to the QRZ.com profile of the DX station.

SOTA Spots

The green SOTA ticker shows current Summits on the Air spots from the last 20 minutes. OE activations are prioritised and highlighted in green. Each spot includes callsign, summit reference, summit name, frequency, and mode. Clicking opens the summit page on SOTL.as.

POTA Spots

The dark green POTA ticker shows current Parks on the Air activations, also from the last 20 minutes with OE focus. Clicking leads to the park page on pota.app.

Satellite Ticker (NEW!)

The newest addition: the cyan-coloured SATELLITES ticker calculates directly in your browser the upcoming passes of amateur radio satellites over your location. No external service needed – the orbital data (TLEs) are fetched server-side from Celestrak and cached.

What you see:

  • Upcoming passes: Name, frequency, AOS/LOS times (UTC), maximum elevation
  • Live passes: Pulsing LIVE badge with current elevation when a satellite is currently above the horizon
  • Detail popup: Click shows AOS/LOS with azimuth, max elevation, duration, progress bar for live passes, and link to N2YO

Currently tracked satellites:

Satellite Frequency Mode
ISS (ARISS) 145.800 MHz FM
SO-50 436.795 MHz FM
RS-44 435.640 MHz SSB
CAS-4A 145.865 MHz SSB
CAS-4B 145.910 MHz SSB
GreenCube (IO-117) 435.310 MHz Digi

Additional satellites can be added in the admin at any time.
