A real-time map for the Meshtastic network in Austria and Europe – open, live, and without tracking.
We’ve all been there: your Meshtastic node is running, happily transmitting away – and then you wonder: can anyone actually see me? Where are the other nodes? And how far does my signal really reach?
That’s exactly what the OERadio Meshmap is for – an interactive real-time map showing all Meshtastic nodes with GPS positions. Just visit meshmap.oeradio.at and see for yourself.
What does the map show?
- Live positions of all Meshtastic nodes with GPS coordinates
- Connections between nodes – who hears whom
- Node details like hardware model, firmware version and battery status
- Messages travelling through the mesh network
The map updates continuously. New nodes appear automatically as soon as they send a position. No registration, no sign-up – just be there.
Four map views
Depending on what you need, you can switch between different layers:
| View | Description |
|---|---|
| OpenStreetMap | The classic street map |
| OpenTopoMap | Topographic map with contour lines – perfect for site planning |
| Satellite | Satellite imagery (ESRI / Google) |
| Hybrid | Satellite imagery with street names and labels |
Which nodes are visible?
The Meshmap shows nodes from two sources:
- OERadio network – all nodes connected to the MQTT server
meshmqtt.oeradio.at(topicmsh/oeradio) - Public EU network – all nodes in the European Meshtastic network (topic
msh/EU_868)
This means not only local OERadio nodes are visible, but Meshtastic nodes from all over Europe. Sometimes surprising connections show up that you never would have expected.
How does my node get on the map?
Option 1: Via the OERadio MQTT server
If you’re already connected to the OERadio MQTT server (instructions here), there’s nothing else to do. As soon as the node sends a GPS position, it appears automatically on the map.
Requirements:
- MQTT enabled in the Meshtastic app and connected to
meshmqtt.oeradio.at - GPS module active in the node or fixed position set
- Position broadcast enabled (this is the default setting)
Option 2: Via the public Meshtastic network
Even without the OERadio MQTT server, your node will be visible on the map – provided it sends via the public Meshtastic server (mqtt.meshtastic.org) with the topic msh/EU_868.
Node details with one click
Every node on the map can be clicked. The detail popup then shows:
- Long Name und Short Name
- Hardware-Modell (z.B. Heltec V3, T-Beam, RAK WisBlock)
- Last update
- Battery voltage and charge level
- SNR and RSSI of the last connection
Handy when you want to know if your node is still alive – or what the neighbours are up to.
Under the hood

- Map tiles are served via a dedicated proxy server
- Data is stored in a MariaDB database
